My young apprentices performed well this Halloween. We used the power of The Force to summon our friends and their families for a night of fun, follies, spirits, laughs, and LOTS of candy! Tonight was a festive Halloween. The weather was perfect, and for once, the kids didn't have to go trick or treating in stocking hats. Daylight savings worked out well this year also, the boys actually had to eat real food before they hit the streets and got filled up on candy. I realized tonight, that we have been blessed to be able to live in such a fantastic neighborhood full of kids and youg parents, but most of all we are blessed to have such great friends that we can share these great ocassions with them and their families. Thanks Koubsky crew and The Lang Gang! Sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite!:)

He must REALLY be old!!!!
Owen called his Grandpa Steve yesterday to wish him a Happy Birthday and also to find out how old he is. When Grandpa told him, he said "wow, that's really old!" Funny how 4 year olds have no concept of age. Really grandpa isn't THAT old :) We had a nice dinner with Peggy and Steve and Jenny and her family to celebrate. All the cousins TRIED to gather for a photo, but with 2 babies under the age of 1 it didn't go too well.

SHHH!....We're Hunting Pumpkins!
Last Sunday we had our annual pumpkin hunt at Pioneer Trail Orchard! It was a windy and cold afternoon but the kiddos didn't mind. They found their perfect pumpkins from the patch. As many of you know I often and lovingly call Luke "Charlie Brown". Partly because he has a big charlie brown noggin (again, I say this lovingly), but also because I loved Charlie Brown as a child. The pumpkin patch always takes me back to the Great White Pumpkin- I recall evenings during Halloween week when Charles Schulz cartoons were a family favorite and we would all gather round the TV and watch together. If you have a chance this week- read a great Charlie Brown book... I know we will.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!!! It's almost over, and back to work (and back to reality). Today was a fantastic day, soccer all afternoon. Owen was up first with a great performance and a win, then it was my turn (dad/Jere), not such a successful game, but got a great workout, and am feeling every dive, slide, and jump:) Then it was Lukes, turn. Last game of the season, and those boys couldn't have finished any stronger. I was so proud of how well and hard they played. Things are starting to click with them, and Luke scored the "goal of the year". A volley shot from almost midfield, that flew in the upper corner of the goal. THAT'S MY BOY!
So here I am, the end of another weekend on the go with soccer and football. What are we going to do in 2 months when it's freezing cold out, and the kids need to burn off energy?? Can you say, DisneyWorld?!!!! The last couple of months have been out of this world crazy and hectic, but I wouldn't have traded them for anything, and by the time February rolls around, I'll be the one bouncing off the walls ready for soccer to start again.
Wanted to get my 2 cents worth in, and try this blog thing out for myself.
Until next time, nighty night.

What have I committed to?
So here we sit on a Friday night... after surfing Facebook (yes, I'm addicted!) I decided it's time to create our own family blog. I SO enjoy reading everyone else's blog, so I figured you might enjoy reading ours, but what have I committed to? Will I blog daily, weekly, monthly... I don't know, but the point is... I'm here to blog. Yes, you'll have to endure my endless bragging about my kids, my husband, the cubs, and my whining about school. You've been forewarned!
Luke is 6 (7 next month), Owen is 4, and the Juderbug is 6 months old already! Luke is fully immersed in sports- soccer, football, and whatever action there is that contains a winner. As Grandpa Mieska always said "Winning isn't everything, but losing sucks", this is Luke's motto already (although he isn't allowed to say "sucks" yet!). Owen is in his first season of soccer and flits around laughing as the ball passes him by. He LOVES it and truly enjoys just being part of a team. Baby Jude is just about to crawl and has been such an amazing addition to our family. He is overwhelmed with love and is most often the center of attention.
Well, we'll see how this "blogging" goes... your ideas and comments are always welcome! Enjoy the Mieska Family... I know I do!
