Just wanted to post some pictures of all my Easter 'hunnies' in my life. I'm grateful for 4 beautiful birdboys that adore their momma, 1 amazing birdpapa that loves his queenbird unconditionally (even when I'm a bit crabby Easter morning trying to get all my dirtybird boys ready and respectable for church), 1 loving dad who sees no wrong in his daughter, 2 brothers that of course KNOW that their only sister is absolutely 100% perfect and the favorite child, and sweet little nephews that just add love, laughter, and LOUDNESS to my life.

My Easter 'Hunnies'
Resurrection Rolls
I've always heard of the resurrection rolls but never actually attempted to make them. YUMMY! And boy had we been missing out on a beautiful learning and fun experience. It's now going to be an Easter tradition at the Mieska house. Items needed: 8 large marshmallows, 8 crescent rolls, little bit of cinnamon sugar, and a little bit of melted butter. The marshmallows signify the body of Christ- white and pure. His body was annointed in oils (butter) and then rolled in the cinnamon sugar. Jesus' body was then wrapped in linens and laid in the tomb (wrap the marshmallow in the crescent roll and pinch the sides). Open the oven and bake as package directs. When done baking you will see the open tomb with Jesus' linens laying aside. The birdboys helped make the rolls this morning and we also read John 19:17-42 and John 20: 1-23. What a beautiful reminder (and yummy) on this Easter morn. Next year I'll be more prepared and make from scratch.
That's How We Roll...
So yesterday was supposed to be a typical Saturday for us...jam-packed with soccer, flag football, 4 bird boys, grocery store, laundry, a little bit of this and a little bit of that... no biggie, right? I have this down to a complete science so the busier we are...the better. Then the email came. Soccer-Cancelled. Flag Football- no games due to wet fields. Grocery store had been cleared off the 'to-do' list because I suprisingly had accomplished this task the evening before. Pure panic crept over my body. What in the world are we going to do when we have 'nothing to do'. Seriously, I know that thought seems completely insane, but like I said, for our family, the busier, the better. So I took the bull by the horns and sat the family down. Again... insane, right? As soon as I said "we're doing N.O.T.H.I.N.G today it was like I just told the bird boys that the world was coming to an end. sssllllloooooowwwww motion, I think the boys drifted off for a minute, or maybe that was me.
They enjoyed every second of it. Rode a little dirtbike, played a little golf, shot a LOT of BB guns, and so forth. A perfect Saturday. Maybe we'll get another one of those in a few years. One can only dream, right...it's just the way we roll.

Big and Bad... Wolf that is!
Birdboy #1 made his musical debut last night...he did an amazing job! Turns out he isn't such a big, bad wolf. The end of the play he was awarded a 'granny' award for being such a good guy :)
He tried out for this part a couple of months ago and had been anxiously awaiting news that he got it- his music teacher announced the cast at lunch one day. The wolf has been practicing his rap solo since (as has the rest of the family in preparation Wolf would forget his lines and one of us could shimmy down the bleachers the night of the performance and inconspicuously fill in for him)! UGH! Glad it's O.V.E.R! But it was a real pleasure to watch- I think Birdpapa and Queenbird were more nervous for their little birdboy than birdboy himself. Oh, and thanks Grandpa Steve for coming to support our little star!

A Wolf and Webelo
So proud of my wolf and webelo...for those of you that don't have boys in your house and for those of you not involved in cub scouts, the wolf and webelo are ranks in the scouting world. Birdboy #1 and #2 recently achieved these ranks at the blue and gold banquet. Birdboy #1 is finally a Webelo and well on his way to becoming an upstanding Boy Scout!!! and Birdboy #2 is finally a Wolf. I had the opportunity to lead Birdboy #2s den- I had 11 Tigers this year. Let me tell you something about 11 little 1st grade boys after they've been let out of school and have been confined in a seat for 8 hours. By the time I get them I think the teachers or parents all pour a cup of sugar and a liter of Mt. Dew down their little Tiger throats. OMGoodnes! They are a rowdy group. I have my work cut out for me. But it boils down to this- they are all nice respectable little men and if they continue in the Scouting program I know they'll all be great little leaders. So proud of you boys!!!
The Juderbug turns '24'...I mean 3!
There is no amount of bribing, counseling, threatening, laughing, arguing that will convince Birdboy #3 that he is indeed only 3! I don't have any idea where he got this, where he heard it, but he is convinced he is 24! Birdpapa finally said to him "get out and getta job!". My poor birdboy. :( Oh, I pray the next 21 years do not fly by like the first 3 did!!!
Birdboy #3 had a fantastic day that started with chocolate donuts, chocolate milk, and lots of....chocolate! He was wired! We finished the 'lightning mcqueen' day with family for cake and ice cream. Thanks for all the birthday wishes for our little Mr. Independent. We love you bug!!!!
