Opie O!

The day our sweet O was born was one of the funnest days in my 36 years! I don't know that many people can say that about 'birth'. I went to work at 7AM- I still worked at Boys Town National Research Hospital. I started seeing patients at 7:30, I felt great, the baby wasn't due for 10 more days (my little brother's birthday)...however, I was extremely tired of being pregnant! I was in deep with chasing a 2 1/2 year old and the night before labor started I had had enough...again, I felt great but decided to 'try' something. Yes, I went for the castor oil- ick, yuck, barf, disgusting...but it worked!!! 7:45 AM the physician I was working with looked at me and said, "are you okay?"...I hadn't thought about it. I felt a little weird but nothing like labor. I went on seeing patients. Forward to 45 minutes later...Dr. Emanuel (the ENT) came back to my office, looked me over and said- "you need to leave, you look horrible"...um, thanks, I think I'll call my doc. I drove myself to the hosptial 20 minutes away, stopped and pulled over once because of a severe contraction but finally made it to the maternity ward. I was in full-force labor. YoooHOOOO. Jere met me at the hospital as well as my parents and little Owen Paul Mieska was born at 2:18 PM, weighing in at 8 pounds 2 ounces. He is our little Leprechaun born on St. Patrick's Day. He is full of energy, the biggest lover and the most caring, sweet, quiet, and considerate of our 4 boys. He'd give you the shirt off his back, the last nickel he had just to know you are happy. Happy Birthday Opie O! Mom and Dad love you SOOOO much!
